Who's running in the DNV and CNV and who's not November 15th.?
With last nights regular council meeting being the last until September 8th, many people away on vacation, and that fraction (those who blog here) of the 20% percent who vote enjoying their Summer, it has also been the trend over the past 10 years for the Blog too slow down on topics and issues. No fear! There's nothing like a good rumour or two or three to liven things up a tad! Who's heard what about who's possibly, maybe, definitely not, etc. running in this Autumns Municipal Election? Incumbent Clr. Alan Nixon has stated he is not running in the District. The best I could get from Barry Forward was a "maybe". There's word Wendy Quereshi will try again too. John Gilmour as well. In the City we have Bill and Dot Bell running and there may be a couple of seats vacant there. Also Mayor Mussatto has some competition this time around.

Don't forget Jim Hanson is running for DNV council. He was the NDP MLA candidate in North Vancouver-Seymour last year.
Mike McGraw is not running for School Board, and Guy Heywood is not running for City council.

I was under the impression that if Mike Little is the Tory candidate for North Burnaby--Seymour he would not run for DNV council. Done deal that he will not be that candidate??
I don't believe Doug MacKay-Dunn is running this time around.

What about Holly Back? My hairdresser told me that she is running for council.
How many people realize that our municipal councils have no real power to speak for their citizens? They have to abide by Metro Vancouver's edicts set by unelected parties, and sending in a yearly report that they have complied with Metro's Regional Goals for Smart Growth, Sustainability and the like. Like the good comrades, they are. Are there any who would stand up against this?

Wendy Qureshi, Jim Hanson, John Sharpe, Cyndi Gerlach, Pam Bookham, etc.
Mike Little is putting his name forward as the candidate for Burnaby North-Seymour, and at this late date, there is a good possibility that he will be the only (viable) candidate. Someone else may step up, but it's doubtful that they can get the required support to have any hope. As for any others running/not running, only Nixon is for sure not running. Bassam has his eyes on the Mayor's chair if and when it becomes vacant, so count him in. Of course, Lisa is in, too.
Holly Back took a stab at council last go round, but I would say she embarrassed herself at the ACMs with her lack of knowledge about municipal issues. Not sure what she's done in the interim to change that.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Jaime Webb, the Independent candidate from Seymour during the 2013 Provincial election, threw her hat in the ring. She made a pretty good showing at the ACMs.
District resident Holly Bach has been recruited to run on North Vancouver City Mayor Mussatto's team. Ironic when you consider how anti amalgamation Mussatto is. Don't know how a defeated district candidate will go over in the City but I don't think people are going to go for another high density candidate never mind one that was just rejected by the District on the last go around.
Holly has a business in the City of North Van and has a good reputation on the chamber, which should help... a bit.
I don't see her and Darrell getting along in the long term, she is very pro-small business, whereas he is a tax and spend champagne socialist.
Being a Mussatto puppet just won't cut it. Holly should stay in the District where she lives.
What happened to the DNV firefighter who ran last time? His platform was: Trust me with your house trust me with your government.

Former union president pro labour didn't play well in the Dist. In the bottom of the candidate vote pool. Not a winner then and not likely now.
I will be running in the District for Mayor.
For real, George? I thought you already withdrew. Tell us why we would even consider you.
That's ODD. I thought George, you were spear heading the UNITE North Van Party or are you still and your running for Mayor in the District as well?
Bravo George! It'll be so nice to see Walton discuss the issues. Make sure he answers the questions. He was on CBC Radio on Friday and was a typical politician who slimed his way through the interview.
So let me get this straight...
You are going to run against the popular Mayor solely on the issue of amalgamation even though he supports amalgamation?
You must have free time to burn.
I am running for Mayor but in the City. Of course nothing is official until the nominations close in mid October.

Word has it that Glen McKenzie is running for District Council.
Even if you favour amalgamation, and many people are interested, a vote for George Pringle is a vote for bad government! He really is on the Dark Side.
North Vancouver's Mike Little will represent the Conservatives in the new riding of Burnaby North-Seymour in the next federal election.
Little, a three-term councillor for North Vancouver District, was announced as the party's candidate in a press release Monday.
“We are thrilled to have Mike as our candidate," said Burnaby North-Seymour Electoral District Association president Ariane Eckardt. "Mike brings a tremendous amount of experience to this position and he will make a great Member of Parliament.”
