A streetcar desired by CNV Councillor Bob Fearnley

CNV Councillor Bob Fearnley is talking about a trolley line from Phibbs to Ambleside. CNV council has debated this in the past and decided against it. Has this issue become part of the 'silly season'?

Exactly what City of Vancouver mayoral candidate Suzanne Anton is proposing in her jurisdiction. Perhaps a carrot to woo the older voters.

What are the odds on Fearnley being voted off council?

I thought the talk was about having a trolley up and down Lonsdale, like in the past. From Phibbs to Ambleside? That is crazy!

It would be great if the constituents got out and voted off deadbeat self-serving councillors that are taking the tax payers for a ride. Unfortunately I believe most constituents are too busy or fed up with local politics to involve themselves.

This is a funny article http://www.geektown.ca/2011/09/is-the-rcmp-on-your-homes-wi-fi-network-.html

Just go to your local library and download anything you want anonymously. Provided by the taxpayer and supported by local government.

I tried to envision just where this streetcar would travel, and it would have to be on the existing rail bed competing with freight trains. Not particularly pedestrian-friendly!

Fearnley is looking for an issue that will set him apart from the competition and he's found it. He will probably be dead last on November 19th!

Word has it that former DNV mayor Don Bell, who now lives in the City, is likely to throw his hat in the ring and run for Council in CNV, where he now lives. Should make for an interesting race.

A street level trolly that runs along marine drive, along first and then along the low road to Phibbs would work and would be ideal to connect the District, City and West Vancouver. I think the idea has some potential and a east-west transit route would be of benefit connecting those communities. I don't thin Fearnley is capable of communicating the potential of such an idea, but from an transportation perspective I think it has some merit - so long as the right equipment is implemented. If you've ever been to San Francisco, you'll be familiar with how well street level trollies work with traffic.

I'd love to see it happen, but it likely will get vetoed by the folks who think we need more infrastructure for the automobiles.

Before we try the streetcars on railtracks, I would like to experiment with the old fashion BC Electric Buses that may still be sitting in the parking lot in Surrey if any left. I see a lot of graffetti paints painting CN and CP box cars, those nomad painter might try their skills on reviving the neglected buses. As for the engines, the members of the Antique Cars would be knowledgeable resources to fix the engines and the interiors.

Addendum to the BC Electric ( Translink old buses), I wonder if the West Coast Express Trains are compatible with the CN tracks running next to the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge. If so, would any citizen like to join a committee to organize a north and south shore railcar initiation committee.
It would be interesting to see if this idea is feasible.

Bob Fearnley almost lost his seat last time due to his scummy secret taping recording of the City Manager.
He is the biggest leech on the Council going to every free junket and trips to Asia.
He is just to save his place at the front of the trough.
