Clark returns more gaming revenue
Arts groups point out the rate of return still not the original 33%

There are no scheduled DNV meetings. What's up with that? There were arts proposals prepared for January.
The reason there have been so many meetings canceled at the District Hall this month is due to a "Christmas hangover" meaning: there has been a lack of staff reports because of staff holidays over the Christmas season. With a lack of properly prepared agenda items, the meetings were cancelled. They don't go away, they just get pushed forward making for longer meetings in the first quarter of the year.
You're only left out if you don't attend because you're too lazy to check with the District office to confirm meeting times and dates. As John said, the topics for discussion aren't going away, they are being moved to another date. What a non-issue. Don't you people have anything more pressing in your lives than to look for excuses get yourselves worked up?
All revenue whether through taxes or gaming should firstly go to essential services and debt reduction/elimination.
The essential services would include health and safety, education, senior, disabled and emergency funding, maintenance of transportation routes etc.
Sports, stadium roofs, arts, gardens and nice to have services should be self-funded until such time as we are out of debt and can afford the "extras" i.e. non-essentials.
Millions going to arts while we are mired in interest attracting debt which increases all of our taxes? No thanks.
I tend to agree with you that Arts and Entertainment need to do a better job of looking after themselves by attracting audiences and making them pay for it.
However, one of the other switcheroos that the province has done with the gaming grants is to move some core funded agencies over to gaming grants. As an example, search and rescue is now partially funded through gaming grants...
At least there is money from gaming for those services. My God, the hospitals are relying on LOTTERIES while 1/2 a billion public tax dollars went to a stadium roof (that leaks).
Where in the hell are the priorities?
People, there are things we like and things we need.
Figure out the difference and put the money in the former.

Since this hangover effect did not happen last January, it must have been quite the DNV Staff Christmas Party!
According to Friday's North Shore News there is a regular meeting of DNV Council. No agenda provided.
According to the DNV website it is cancelled.
This is another spectacle of how the electorate is left out when it comes to public engagement.

Obviously off topic, however I just checked the DNV website and there are no meetings scheduled.
How many DNV employees does it take to set an council agenda anyhow?
How many available politicians does it take to make a quorum?
There was a full, regular council meeting last night.
The Monday Council clip is still not available on dnv.org
I am looking forward to more active and productive meetings in the spring. They must somehow cope with lost time.
They have to choose the right industry to deal with. Other sports may be more worth the profit.
