This came off the North Vancouver Recreation Website:
Tuesday, March 20 7:00 - 9:00pm $10 includes appetizers
Oil tanker traffic from Westridge terminal in Burnaby has increased over 300 percent since 2005 and they navigate some of the busiest waters in BC. Now Kinder Morgan has confirmed its plans to expand the pipeline capacity subject to regulatory approval and in the event of a spill, millions of people and hundreds of rare species would be adversely affected. These things should not be decided by a regulator!
And who exactly should decide if we compromise our beautiful harbour by allowing more oil tankers simply because a company, Kinder Morgan, with a terrible safety record wants to make more money?
Frankly, I don't think we have a hope in hell of stopping this insanity. The almighty buck comes first, over any resemblance of common sense.
Reese Witherspoon was on Letterman the other night. She mentioned with gusto that her latest movie was filmed in Vancouver.
Letterman and all regaled Vancouver and its beauty.
Do we need to risk this?
