So what's happening with Mike Little?

Former District Councillor, Mike Little didn't run again in 2014 presumably because of his federal political aspirations which didn't go his way. Now he sits on the District Library Board. Is this Mr. Little's posturing for seat back on council or perhaps a run for Mayor in 2018?

Rather than giving in to the unproductive activity of speculation, why don't you just contact him and ask?

What Mike Little may do is all well and good.

During the Federal election the Liberals promised that the new tax structure would be revenue neutral. i.e. higher taxes for the 1% making over $200 K would balance lower taxes for those in the mid-income range. Sounds great!

They have now announced that their "revenue neutral" election promise was off a bit. The loss to tax revenue resulting from their scheme will be $8.9 billion over 6 years. Coupled with their plan of major deficit spending this is a devastating blunder and should be a huge concern to every taxpayer. Sooner or later we all will be on the hook for recklessness with our finances.

Apparently you can fool some of the people all of the time. I fear for our future with these people at the helm.

I do not believe for a nanosecond that Prime Minister Trudeau and his obvious transparency and delegation of major decisions will be a detriment to our financial future. Why not build needed infrastructure when there is a need to provide many, many jobs. Somebody said on CBC radio recently that for every $1 billion spent on infrastructure, 18,000 immediate jobs are created, and many spin-offs.

Good riddance Harper and the Conservatives!

Well if they said it on CBC, heavily subsidized by the Federal government, then it must be true.

If you don't believe that taking in far less tax revenue than forecast and, due to the devaluation of our dollar, going into debt on an ongoing basis much deeper than promised is a detriment to our financial future then there is nothing much one can say.

Try it at home. Significantly reduce your income and concurrently create an ongoing project to enlarge your home that spans many years and hires lots of tradesmen. Each year go deeply into accumulating debt that you cannot service with your reduced income. See how it goes.

The difference between you and the government is that the government can always raise everyone's taxes (they will have to when we have a responsible government) and you can't arbitrarily demand more income.

See if it is a detriment to your financial future.

Good luck.

Don't compare government economics with running an household. It's disingenuous.

You are mistaken. It is entirely appropriate. Love the term "government economics".

The fundamental differences between "government economics" and a household are:

1. the government operates a bigger budget; and
2. the government can deflate money by printing more and has an unlimited ability to raise more money by increasing taxation. You don't.

The basic truth that you cannot reduce income and increase expenditures or you will eventually have to eventually pay for your recklessness (plus interest) is entirely congruent.

So Mike Little is back volunteering... not on the eve of an election but 3 years before? What an opportunist.

I like Mike and wish he had run for Mayor instead of getting on the sinking HMS Harper.

One more thing... Class act. Instead of staying on council and potentially causing a by-election he left with no cost to us. Maybe it was over confidence in his chances, but either way it would have cost him nothing to screw the public like Jane Thornthwaite and Don Bell did, and Craig Keating tried to do.
